ST. LOUIS, MO

St. Louis is my home. I have lived here my whole life.  As we prepare for our grand adventure I think about the things I will miss the most about home. Toasted raviolis, gooey butter cake, and of course... my family, friends and Dozer the Wonder Dog. We are in the stages of planning right now- matching with hosts we will be staying with, taking care of all the legalities, planning out routes, and saving money. Both Vincent (my boyfriend and trusty travel buddy) and I are working overtime and multiple jobs in order to make this trip of dreams a reality. We are planning to be gone about a year, so as you can image that's a lot of money to stock away. After many hours of research we have determined that our overall route will look like this: Costa Rica, Panama, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Spain, France, Italy, The UK, The Netherlands, then back home. We are a part of an organization that helps match us to hosts that will provide room and board for us in exchange for about 25 hours of work per week. There will be a lot of changes: new people, jobs, places, languages, cultures and customs. Huge things we will have to learn to adjust to every month. There will be awkward moments, we will get lost, we will say or do the wrong thing. Maybe that's the biggest thing I will miss- the comfort of home.

Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.
